General questions

How does Mantis X work?

The Mantis X is a small motion sensor that attaches to the weapon.
This sensor measures the smallest movements of the weapon. As soon as the shooter pulls the trigger, the sensor detects this and sends the data immediately before, during and after the “shot” via Bluetooth to the smartphone/tablet. The movement of the weapon is displayed graphically on the free Mantis app (iOS/Android).
Thanks to many analysis tips, the shooter can see for himself what he can improve. The app has many exercises and courses that the shooter can use independently.

Is the app in German?

Yes. The app takes over the language setting of the smartphone. It is also available in other languages such as French, Italian or Spanish.

Can I also shoot live with the Mantis X?

Yes. With the Mantis X3 or X10 Elite you can train dry training and also with live fire.

What does the score in the circle mean?

The Mantis X doesn't know where you're aiming. It only knows whether the weapon moved or not when the trigger was pulled. If you got a score of 100, that would mean that the gun didn't move at all while you pulled the trigger. As an example: A 98.8 would mean a 5mm deviation from the holding point at 10m and 13mm at 25m.

What is the difference between the pistol or rifle setting?

In addition to different exercises, there is a difference in the granulation of the display.
For the pistol program it uses an angle of 1/8 degree and for the rifle it uses an angle of 1/16 degree. For comparison:
pistol – 98 points at 10m = 9mm;
25m = 22mm; 50m = 44mm deviation rifle – 98 points at 10m = 4mm;
25m = 11mm; 50m = 22mm; 300m = 131mm deviation By the way: The ISSF drills are all programmed with 1/16.
